A reverent beginning to the 2017 academic yearPosted in College Community on Friday, 10 February, 2017
Students and staff from Years 3 to 12, together with parents and friends of the College community and invited guests, welcomed the 2017 academic year at the College’s Opening Mass.
Father Tony Chiera, Vicar General of Bunbury, led the gathering through an inspiring Mass, his message in his homily being that it is “okay” to make mistakes along life’s journey, as it is through those mistakes that we learn and become more detrmined to grow and succeed.
The College is very grateful to Father Chiera for giving his time so generously to the College while Father Xavier, College chaplain, enjoys a well-earned holiday in India.
Director of Ministry, Mrs Susan Bentley, who joins the Mandurah Catholic College community this year, commented that “the reverence and respectful behaviour of the entire student body was inspiring!” and thanked the Year 12 student leadership team for their hard work and willingness to assist in organising her first Opening Mass at the College.
Our younger students, from Kindergarten to Year 2, participated in a liturgy to herald in the new year of learning.
