Simply Seuss-ational!Posted in College Community on Wednesday, 17 May, 2017
The Mandurah Catholic College production of Seussical delighted audiences, young and old, when it hit the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on the weekend.
More than 1100 people were captivated by the cast’s professional and endearing performances of the song and dance musical, and the decision to stage a matinee performance in the three-show season was a popular choice for the many young and eager Seuss fans who flocked to see the likes of Cat in a Hat, Horton, Mayzie Le Bird, Sour Kangaroo and Gertrude come alive before their eyes.
The talented orchestra – comprising past and present students, members of the Mandurah community and WAAPA students – delivered a complex musical score that faultlessly accompanied the onstage cast of 80 students from Junior and Secondary School. The choir, too, most capably complemented the main characters’ vocals, adding richness and depth to the ensemble numbers.
With too many stand-out performances to singularly congratulate, all cast – including the production and backstage crews – are commended for staging an epic school musical that endeared itself to those who had the privilege of witnessing this entertaining highlight of the College calendar for 2017.
