Resounding victory for Junior footballersPosted in on Friday, 12 May, 2017

Round 1: MCC 12.8 80 def. Frederick Irwin 1.0 (6)

Junior Boys’ football kicked off on a sunny afternoon at Freddie’s with a strong team fielded for our first hit out.

It didn’t take the boys long to hit the scoreboard and this trend continued throughout the first half, with run and carry proving to be a highlight for the team. MCC went into the half-time break with a 5.2 to 1.0 lead, but were still urged to capitalise on opportunities.

The second half saw the team respond by having 13 scoring shots to none, keeping Freddie’s scoreless. An impressive start for the boys with goals coming from a number of sources, but multiples coming from the trio of Jai Henare, Josh Edwards and Charlie Bourke. Our best players generally stemmed from a strong midfield, anchored by Luke Jardine and Ty Mullan, and solid defensive play from Darcy Wills and Dylan Mulcahy.

Round 2 sees the team take on Coodanup at Home.

Well done lads!
