ASX Schools Share Market Game – FINAL RESULTSPosted in STEAM on Friday, 1 November, 2019

The Game has finished and has returned some outstanding results for Mandurah Catholic College. The all-conquering Year 4 students have completed a clean sweep of the podium to see off some determined and seasoned investors. Well done to:

First Place

Monetary Maniacs :

Tinotenda Mukuya, Korbyn Napoli, Charlotte Fogarty and Bianca Patterson

They led the field for most of the game – so are most deserving winners. Their final portfolio value of $57, 295 represents a Capital gain of around 15%. They finished 14th in Western Australia. This is particularly impressive given that there were 16, 827 teams registered Nationally!

Second Place

Liquidators :

Harrison Farrell, Ella Halls, Logan Leader and Lily McGuirk

The Liquidators were there or thereabouts for the whole game – another outstanding effort. Their final portfolio value of $55, 789 represents an 11% Capital gain. They finished 43rd in Western Australia.

Third Place

Nikita – Van – Nicole – Zara:

Nikita Whitehorn, Van Wright, Nicole Zavorotnyy and Zara Neagle

Nikita – Van – Nicole – Zara timed their run beautifully to round out the Top three. Their final portfolio value of $55, 739 also represents an 11% Capital gain and they were within $50 of taking second place. They finished 47th in Western Australia.

As evidenced from the final Standings 26 Teams made a Capital Gain. The Sharemarket was quite volatile during the 10 weeks of the game so this is a good effort. The purpose of the game is to build financial literacy amongst students. I am confident that the competing teams learnt some valuable lessons about the nature of the Sharemarket and the many forces that can impact upon the value of shares. Looking forward to the 2020 Schools Sharemarket game.

Thank you to Ms Laity (Year 4), Mr Wise (Year 4), Mrs May (Secondary) and Mrs Dawson (Secondary) who supported the Game and provided time and advice for the students.

Congratulations to all teams.
