Dockers Cup teams shine in the South WestPosted in Sport on Friday, 6 July, 2018

Mandurah Catholic College sent two eager Year 7 teams to Hay Park in Bunbury to take on the best in the South West for Dockers Cup Football, with the boys’ team showing such dominance that they recorded a clean sweep of their opposition.

Both teams acquitted themselves well with the boys winning all five games convincingly, while the girls won four out of their five with a pulsating 1-point loss in their final match. Nine out of ten wins for the day shows the strength of Year 7 sport at the College. Some of the boy’s results were borderline perfect.

MCC 5.3 (33) defeated BCC 2.0 (12)
MCC 10.11 (71) defeated MTCC 0.0 (0)
MCC 8.10 (58) defeated BCGC 0.0 (0)
MCC 9.4 (58) defeated Mackillop 0.0 (0)
MCC 6.1 (37) defeated BCC1 2.4 (16)

With the girls playing in a similar vein, it was great to see quality football being played in challenging conditions.

As a result, the boys booked their ticket to the Dockers Cup grand final while the girls finished second, which unfortunately means they missed out on a grand final berth, but showed their athletic prowess on the football field.

Well done to both teams on their performances!
