Dance

The Mandurah Catholic College Dance Program offers students in-depth learning opportunities with specialist teachers, and includes excursions or incursions with people from the industry as well as introductions to pathways beyond Senior School courses.

Year 7 Students participate in a taster course which introduces movement and music.  Students in Years 8-10 can choose to study the Dance Program as a subject option.  There are limited places in the course and although some experience is useful, a willingness to learn is extremely important if choosing this option.

The Dance Program provides tuition in areas such as Contemporary Dance, Jazz and Hip Hop techniques, choreography and improvisation, as well as other related areas of study in history, kinesiology and dance analysis.

Dance students are required to participate in three performances each year.  In addition, MCC Dance students are often invited to perform at various school-based and community events.  The College has a very close working relationship with the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.

Past students have been accepted into the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and progressed to perform and choreograph either as independent artists or in professional dance companies in Perth, around Australia and worldwide.
