Primary Students Show Skills at Basketball TournamentPosted in Basketball,Sport on Friday, 30 August, 2019

Year 6 Boys and Girls took to the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre for the 2019 edition of the Primary Basketball Carnival. A big day of games lay ahead for the defending champs and it would take a big effort to repeat. Under the guidance of Harrison Klasztorny and Jaide Britton they would be well prepared for the day ahead.

Round One saw both teams make impressive starts with double digit victories from both the boys and the girls. The standard of basketball was solid from the get-go with teams showcasing their talent. Round Two saw both teams challenged in high quality matches against Greenfields, with each going down to the wire. The Girls escaped with a draw while the Boys went down narrowly.

This would prove the theme for the day with many close outings for both teams in their five qualifying games, although eventual winners Dudley Park proved a class above in the Girls of MCC, which would prove their downfall missing out on a finals berth. On the other side of the ledger, the Boys did well enough to earn a finals game against Mother Teresa Catholic College, which turned out to be a little one sided and resulted in a 6th place finish for the gentlemen in maroon and gold.

While the results may not have fallen our way, a great day was had by all and after over four hours of basketball everyone got their fair share of physical activity for the day. Well done to all who took part and we now look forward to reloading in 2020.
