St Patrick’s House MissionPosted in Houses on Wednesday, 14 August, 2019

Students in St Patrick’s House have recently completed their House Mission: The Canvas Bag Project. Designed with student service and compassion towards the most marginalised and vulnerable members of our Mandurah community in mind, students initially donate toiletry and sanitary items in the first phase of the Project.

The second phase focuses on student service, where students volunteer their time to sew the canvas bags together. This sewing occurs during both lunchtime and afterschool to ensure maximum student participation. The toiletry items donated during the first phase are then placed inside the newly made bags and then distributed to the homeless in Mandurah through the HALO association. The Canvas Bags are also lined with padding, so they can be turned inside out, rolled and then used as pillow. This year, the St Patrick’s student sewed up a storm and created an additional 7 bags full of toiletries.

“It has been great working with the Pat’s students to make the Canvas Bags. We are going to help a lot of people in our community.” Zach Elliott – House Prefect

“We are so proud of the contribution, compassion and thoughtfulness of the St Patrick’s students.” Mr Hall
