Tell us about your family:
Married to my wonderful hubby Glenn for 16 years and I’m all sure you know Jake in Year 10 and Kate in Year 7, my awesome kids. My favourite child is the four-legged one at home, Tank, he is a 5-year-old 70kg Dogue de Bordeau. Then we have the very cheeky 3-year-old Buddy the Budgie who spends more time out of his cage than he does in. My husband is a self employed Plumber so his bookwork keeps me busy also ( well thats what I tell him so he cooks dinner)
Tell us about your education:
I finished school at the end of Year 10, went to business college for 6 months and while doing work experience at a travel agency. Travel has always been a passion so that was the career path I was hoping for.
Tell us about your history with MCC:
I started with MCC as a relief TA in Primary School. Then in 2010 I worked in Admin for 3 months to cover Donna’s LSL, and then successfully obtained a position 3 days a week on front reception. 9 years ago I started full time and this is my fifth year in the Print Hub, and I am still here and still smiling.
What did you do before MCC?
While doing work experience at the Travel agency they offered me a permanent position. I spent 17 years in the travel industry and loved every minute of it. Back in those days you were off on freebee trips regularly, Ansett used to fly us free to Broome on the weekends for lunch!
Tell us about your passion:
My Family is my number 1 passion, I absolutely love being a mum, and having my best friend as by hubby is priceless. I love being on the water on the pontoon boat. You cant beat a weekend lazy lunch on the boat for relaxation. As I get older I don’t like flying so much which is tricky as I do love to explore different cultures and countries.
What are you listening to/ watching/ reading right now?
I just finished the first season “dead to me” on Netflix, which was hilarious. I love watching the reno shows on channel 94 (sad I know). Never have time to read books unless Im away on holiday. Between working full time, running a business and running kids to sport sometimes there is not enough hours in the day.
What is your greatest achievement?
Definitely being a mum, and a great wife (just ask Glenn LOL). Being a Breast Cancer survivor and managing to stay positive throughout the last 6 months is also an achievement Im pretty happy with.
What is the single most important thing you learnt at school?
Be nice to people, and to judge people for yourself, don’t listen to gossip.
What do you love about our College?
My work family is pretty awesome, they never fail to make me smile, and are always there to listen and support me. Working in the Print Hub is great I really enjoy my position and having the contact with all the staff.
What are your plans for the future?
Win lotto and retire. Short term – Conquer the Gibb river road and Cape Leveque, hopefully next year. Long term – Stay happy, healthy and Caravan around Australia again with hubby.
One way you hope to impact the College in the future:
To keep smiling and being positive…..it’s contagious,
What is your favourite MCC memory and why?
Lots of great memories at MCC, but I would have to say I love and miss the wood duck at the end of term by Walshy, and I love the “performances” at the Christmas lunch by Phys Ed !!
Sum up your life right now in five (5) words:
Crazy, busy, happy, healthy, loving life.
