Tell us about your family:
My beautiful wife Meena is proudly Malaysian, cooks like a Michelin chef and is a fantastic school teacher. My son Jack is 5 and is currently in Pre-Primary at MCC. He loves Ninja Warrior and AFL. My other son Leo is 2, talks like a parrot and loves Disney Cars.

What about your education:
I completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Indonesian Language and Financial Planning at Deakin University in Melbourne which included a years in country study at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, East Java. I later completed a Graduate Diploma of Education at Edith Cowan University.

Tell us about your history with MCC:
I joined MCC in 2017. I was fortunate to be under the guidance of Tina McShane who was amazing at showing me the ropes and making my transition to teaching smooth. I have enjoyed being a Year 4 teacher since joining.

What did you do before MCC?
In terms of employment I worked at a supermarket in my home town of Torquay. I managed a Pizza shop that was shut down by the health inspector (not my fault). I enjoyed the hospitality scene in London and Edinburgh. I worked as a live-in-carer in Lincolnshire, England. I worked as a flight attendant and Safety Trainer with Emirates Airlines and eventually became a Financial Planner.

What do you in the community?
I enjoy playing old boys footy with the Mandurah Makos, coaching my son Jack at Auskick, getting in the way in the surf and learning how to sail at MOFSC with a crazy pirate by the name of Neil Dixon.

Tell us about your passion:
My passion is to give the kids the ever changing tools they need for the future whilst having the most fun possible. I am also passionate about being the best person I can be whilst striking a balance of enjoying the moment. Reducing the amount of plastic in our oceans is also something I am passionate about.

What are you listening to/ watching/ reading right now?
Music: Xavier Rudd – White Moth, Silverchair – Frogstomp Books/Audiobooks – 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, To Have and Have Not, The Untethered Soul, Islands in the Stream, Atomic Habits and Sapiens. YouTube: Free Range Sailing, Sailing Nandji, Dangar Marine and Surfers of Bali.

What is your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement is getting married and having two vibrant boys. I have been blessed to work and live abroad and visit many countries which was always a dream of mine as a young kid.

What do you love about our College?
The people. Kids, staff and parents.

What are your plans for the future?
Become a better husband, teacher, friend and family member.

What is your favourite MCC memory and why?
I can’t single out one memory. I have enjoyed seeing the kids thrive during Circus Assemblies, achieving academic and sporting success and also seeing them surprise themselves in what they can achieve. What also springs to mind is the relationships with staff in the Primary and Secondary School. Great bunch of people who love to laugh (including at each other and themselves) and always have the kids best intentions at front of mind.

One way you hope to impact the College in the future:
Wow, sounds like a job interview question. I hope to remain employed so I can assist the College to provide interesting learning opportunities for our kids. I would love to see Indonesian Language taught at the school and implement Personal Financial Planning workshops for students that are entering the work force to help set them up for the future.
