Students Excel at Inclusive SwimPosted in Secondary,Sport on Friday, 12 April, 2019

Friday 5 April saw our MCC Inclusive Sport squad travel to Claremont to take on the best of the best from multiple schools, in the pool. 14 students across multiple events took part in what would be a busy day of swimming.

The day started with the novelty relay events, where many students swam their hearts out for the College. Students like Keegan Wilson, Rhylee Bevan and Sandy Tagudin did a great job in providing energy in the pool.

Individual events and 50 metre relays would follow and the impressive results kept coming. Lily-Mae Muir was impressive in swimming a double leg in the freestyle relay, which meant she swam a total of 100 metres! And Sophie Gordic recovered from an early bee sting to swim well in both individual and relay events. Team captain Jess Dorotich would swim the other relay leg as well as participate in novelty and body board relays, once again leading by example.

The boys would also have some fantastic results on the day with Blayke Stephens winning Champion Boy for his age group. He was well supported by Jordan Tremayne, Mack Snook, Cash Treen and a number of others who pushed themselves mentally and physically.

The day was enjoyed by all and once again it was team coach, Karl Belfrage leading the charge on the way home singing more Taylor Swift but, more impressively, adding to his karaoke repertoire by singing some of everyone’s favourite carrot-haired crooner, Ed Sheeran to keep the team entertained.

Well done to the 14 who participated on the day! Next up: Inclusive Sports Day.
