Surf’s Up for ZaliPosted in Achievements,Sport on Friday, 16 August, 2019

Year 10 student Zali Corry has been selected to compete at the National Surf Titles in Queensland. A member of the Indian Ocean and Mandurah Longboard Clubs, Zali will be representing these clubs as well as Surfing Western Australia at the competitions next week.

Zali has won the State Under 18 division for the last 3 years and placed in the top four for the Open Women over the last 3 years. She also competed two years ago in the national titles and gained 3rd place in the Under 18 Girls and 10th in the Open Women division.

When asked how she felt about attending the National Titles Zali said, “As well as being excited I am also quite nervous as anyone would be.” She has done a lot of preparation for the event. “Being in the water and practicing has been the biggest thing as well as keeping fit and preparing any backup things that may be needed such as extra materials/boards etc.”

Zali said, “I have competed within the short boarding community since I was a young age in the Mandurah Board Riders Club. I eventually joined the long boarding community, starting with the State competitions and then branching out into regional comps. The Indian Ocean Longboard Club invited me to join them around the same time as the Mandurah Longboard Club was starting up am now a member of both clubs.”

Zali has also managed to pick up sponsor Volte wetsuits.

We wish Zali the best of luck for the competition.
