Woolworths Discovery Garden Yields Results for Primary SchoolPosted in College Community,Sustainability on Friday, 13 September, 2019

The Mandurah Catholic College Primary School was visited by Lyn Taylor from Woolworths in Falcon recently, who presented students with a kit of seeds as a part of the Woolworths Discovery Garden Program.

Brought to Australia after success in both South Africa and New Zealand, the Discovery Garden Program is giving selected schools seed kits and shoppers a packet of seeds for every $30 they spend. The Program is a refreshing change for Woolworths, moving away from the traditional plastic collectibles and opting for a more environmentally conscious incentive.

“The children can plant them in the Primary School vegetable garden.” said Mrs Dixie Lancaster, EA in the Primary School. “We run vegetable gardening lessons on a Thursday and Friday afternoon. Teaching all areas of sustainability, growing plants organically and reusing and repurposing. Each Year group has a turn in the garden, so these seeds will be well utilised.”

Thank you Woolworths!
